How do I get money my grandmother left for me for college?

Im 18 and Im currently trying to apply for college. My FASFA was denied because I don't live with either of my parents and I didndon'tut any of there information down and I have no desire to be in any form contact with them. I just remembered that my grandmother had left me a college fund when she passed away years ago. I dont know how to get a hold of it or who to contact about it. And could my dad keep it because more than likely hell do everything he can to keep me from getting it.
