Why does my face feel weirdly dry after using benzoyl peroxide?

It feels awkward. Not tense at all. It doesn't hurt. It doesn't look dry, either. Unless I apply make up. :/ It's also red. It feels so weird when I talk, though. I keep applying moisturizer but it seems to do nothing. Help?
